Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is recalling various models to address an issue with the wire harness as well as installing updated software.
The automaker has announced that it is recalling 323,361 vehicles in the U.S. to update certain software and replace wire harnesses as needed. According to FCA, an examination of warranty data resulted in an investigation that discovered an insufficient crimp in a wire harness. As a result, the insufficient crimp could lead to a solenoid fault code that can cause propulsion loss. The company said that most vehicles in the recall will not experience this fault code over their lifetimes, but if they do, it can typically be temporarily resolved by stopping the vehicle and restarting the engine.
Affected vehicles include the 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan, Ram ProMaster City small vans, Jeep Renegade and Cherokee SUVs. Certain 2014 model year Cherokees are also affected by the recall.

No vehicle built after September 23, 2014 are affected because a change had been made in the harness-manufacturing process. There are also an estimated 35,511 additional vehicles in Canada, as well as 7,067 in Mexico and 43,927 outside the NAFTA region.
No accidents or injuries related to the recall have been reported.
